Labor Day Weekend has passed, and that means Summer has officially packed up its sunscreen and floated off on a pink flamingo, and we’re here to say it loud and proud: this was the best Summerween yet.
For those new to the term, Summerween is that magical time of year — usually from late June through August — when Halloween lovers refuse to wait for fall. Instead, we bring the spooky season to the pool, the beach, and backyard barbecues. Skeletons in sunglasses, ghosts on vacation, and jack-o’-lantern pineapples become the unofficial mascots of a season where summer meets spooky.
This Year’s Summerween Trends
2025 turned the Summerween dial up to eleven. Here are some highlights we couldn’t get enough of:
🦴 Skeletons in Swimsuits
From towels and drinkware to full-size lawn decorations, skeletons in neon swimsuits and floaties became the trend we didn’t know we needed. Bright colors and oversized shades gave a cheeky summer twist to our favorite bony icons.
👻 Ghosts Gone Tropical
Ghosts ditched their haunted mansions for fruity cocktails and beach vibes. These pastel-accented cuties were everywhere — on candles, figurines, and even planters. Pro tip: they look just as adorable on a fall mantel as they do by the pool.
🍍 Spooky Florals and Fruits
Pineapple jack-o’-lanterns? Watermelon wedges paired with margarita glasses? Yes, please. Summerween decor leaned hard into tropical whimsy this year, and we are here for it. So much pastel cuteness! Alot of this stuff is still in stores (specifically Marshalls/ TJ Maxx/ HomeGoods), so run over there if you want to jump on this trend. Here’s a gallery of photos I took this year (so far!):
Coloring Books to Keep the Vibe Going
When the floats are deflated and the pool is closed, there’s still a way to hold onto that Summerween spirit — coloring books! This year brought a wave of spooky-meets-summer coloring books perfect for cozy evenings (and yes, iced pumpkin spice lattes totally count as cozy).
Here are some of our favorites:
-
Snaps the Cat Summerween Coloring Book – An adorable orange cat rocking overalls and a straw hat, surrounded by glowing jack-o’-lantern watermelons and happy little ghosts.
-
Spooky Summerween – Cute meets creepy with a surfing reaper and plushie sidekicks taking on pastel waves.
-
Summerween: A Spooky Summer Coloring Book – Beach scenes, palm trees, and pool floats with a generous dose of Halloween whimsy — a must-have for the season.
Coloring isn’t just relaxing — it’s also a creative way to keep that spooky energy alive while we wait for crisp air and falling leaves.
Why We Love Summerween
Summerween reminds us that spooky doesn’t have to be saved for October. It’s a chance to blend the fun, sunny chaos of summer with the cozy, nostalgic vibes of Halloween. Poolside drinks, backyard parties, and a little touch of horror? That’s the kind of year-round mood we’re all about.
Looking Ahead
With retailers already swapping Summerween shelves for full-blown Halloween displays, it’s time to pack up the flamingo floats and start plotting our October decorating schemes. But let’s be honest — some of this pastel spookiness will be sticking around on our desks and bookshelves until next year.
